Ethical Tallow Sourcing

At BeezyBalmi®, we make sustainable skincare that respects both skin and nature. Our ethical tallow comes from pasture-raised, grass-fed herds as a by-product of the food system—never from animals raised or harmed for cosmetics. By upcycling this ingredient and following a nose-to-tail philosophy, we reduce waste, keep our supply chain local and short, and avoid unnecessary processing. The result is a balm that feels honest, effective, and in tune with the Baltic fields and forests that inspire us.

Why tallow for skin-friendly, sustainable care

Tallow has been trusted for generations because its lipids are naturally compatible with the skin barrier. It cushions dryness, helps lock in moisture, and supports a calm, comfortable complexion—especially for dry and sensitive skin. We choose tallow not because it is trendy, but because it works with minimal intervention. A simple, time-tested formula means fewer ingredients, less processing, and a smaller footprint compared with complex synthetic blends. This is sustainable skincare in practice: straightforward, reliable, and gentle.

Animal welfare at the heart of sourcing

Ethical skincare starts with how ingredients are obtained. We partner only with suppliers who uphold strong animal-welfare standards and transparent record-keeping. Our tallow is sourced from farms where animals spend their lives on pasture; it enters our process only as a by-product of food production, not as a driver of demand. We request documentation for each lot, review handling practices, and align with applicable EU and local regulations. BeezyBalmi® is not a vegan brand, yet we are firmly cruelty-free: we do not conduct animal testing and we work with responsible partners who share our values.

Lower footprint, higher integrity

Using upcycled tallow allows us to avoid creating new inputs from scratch and to work with what the land already provides. We produce in small batches to maintain freshness and reduce waste. Our packaging is kept intentionally simple and recyclable, and we prioritize local logistics to keep transport miles low. Every choice—from short ingredient lists to minimal processing—reflects our commitment to sustainability you can see and feel.

Provenance, traceability, and quality

Every batch we use is logged with farmer or processor, date, and specifications. Raw tallow is carefully cleaned and filtered before it reaches our workshop in Latvia, then checked for safety and stability as part of our routine quality control. This attention to detail ensures that what you apply to your skin has a clear, traceable story—from field to finished BeezyBalmi® jar.

Honest status and skin sensitivity

Because we use animal-derived ingredients (tallow and honey), BeezyBalmi® is not vegan. If you have allergies to animal products or particularly sensitive skin, please patch-test before full use and consult a professional if needed. Transparency matters more than labels, and we are always happy to discuss our sourcing choices and the reasons behind them.
